Jason Boland and Aaron Watson, two of Texas’ hottest touring acts, announced this week that they will be joining forces for fifteen shows in April and May. Both acts have earned their reputations as some of the hardest working acts in Country music. Both artists keep up a tour schedule regularly performing in excess of 200 shows a year to sell out crowds. This is the first time in recent history that two “marquee” Texas headliners have hooked up for a full-blown tour spanning the course of any significant amount of time.
The idea of Fiddles, Steels and 18 Wheels is to create an event for fans who champion the traditional sound of country that both Jason Boland and Aaron Watson have received acclaim for continuing to make. Though that traditional sound has been abandoned by mainstream country as of late, Jason and Aaron are the two true-torch bearers of traditional country music in our scene today and are proving nightly that Nashville is missing out on a huge piece of the market share. By joining together, the acts are giving fans two headlining acts for basically the same ticket price that you would normally pay to see each one individually. Jason Boland states, “It’s very important to the band and I to give the fans a great value for their ticket price while delivering to them something different on stage.”
Fans will get to see new shows and hear new songs from both artists’ upcoming releases: Aaron Watson’s Angels & Outlaws out for an April 1 release will be available at all shows; Fans will get a first listen of songs from Jason Boland’s Comal County Blue slated for release Labor Day weekend 2008.
